Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

When you look at your tooth in the mirror, you see the crown. The portion hidden beneath the gum is the root. Inside the tooth is the root canal, which houses the pulp a soft tissue made up of blood vessels and nerves. If the pulp becomes inflamed or infected, a root canal treatment can help save the tooth by addressing the issue and preserving its structure.

Root Canal Treatment

Endodontic, or root canal treatment, involves removing infected or diseased tissue, cleaning the canals, and then filling them to prevent reinfection. After successful treatment, your general dentist will restore the tooth to normal function with a filling or crown.

Retreatment

Sometimes, root canal retreatment is needed due to infection after an earlier procedure. This involves removing the old filling, re-cleaning the canals to eliminate infection, and then refilling to re-seal the root canal system. Although more complex, our extensive experience in retreatment allows us to effectively restore your tooth and surrounding tissues to health.

Endodontic Microsurgery

Endodontic microsurgery involves removing infected or diseased tissue, typically at the root apex, using advanced microsurgical techniques. This treatment is sometimes necessary after an unsuccessful root canal procedure, especially when conventional retreatment is complicated by other factors.

Single Visit Root Canal Treatments

One of the most common causes of tooth pain is decay. At Thanjai Dental Centre, our expert team performs single-sitting root canal treatments. With years of study and training, we have made this procedure a specialty, encouraging patients to experience the comfort and convenience it offers.

Single Visit RCT Advantages and Procedure

The main advantage of single-sitting root canal treatment is that it saves you from needing to take multiple days out of your schedule for several appointments. Additionally, the cost is comparable to traditional multi-visit procedures.

Eligibility

Any patient who needs a root canal is eligible for single-visit treatment, provided there is no pus accumulation or swelling. An X-ray can confirm the absence or presence of pus as Periapical Radiolucency.

If there is pus or swelling, we will clean the area, allow the pus to drain, apply an ointment, and close the opening with a temporary filling. The rest of the procedure will be completed in a second sitting once the swelling and pus have subsided.
